Gearbox Software Confirms Leaked DLC for Borderlands 2; Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty Up for Grabs!

Close on the launch of Gaige the Mechromancer, Gearbox software has confirmed the DLC for the Borderlands 2, which will feature a mean lady Captain and her treasure…

The guns are blazing hard in the land of Pandora with the estranged quartet singing the battle song in the recently released Borderlands 2 edition. Most of you would be busy on their consoles shooting your way to glory. Now it seems that Gearbox software has finally confirmed the presence of the new DLC, the information about which was accidentally leaked on the disc itself when the trophies for the new DLC were included in the PS3 list. Some of the trophies include Trophy Hunter, which is rewarded after one completes the mission ‘X marks the Spot’ and Gadabout, which one achieves on discovering all named locations in Oasis and after surrounding Pirate’s Booty areas. The next trophy is named the Completionist, which is won after completing after all the side missions. The gaming major has come forward and confirmed the news of the pirate DLC which will feature the character of pirate queen Captain Scarlett who looks very ominous with her one-eye and cyborg-like appearance. The setting would be a place termed as Oasis and the quest would be recover the Captain’s treasured Booty. It will have new missions, bosses, raids and a whole new set of weapons as well. It will also feature a new level of rarity for the weapons featured, which will determine the bonuses gained by a weapon relating it to its firepower. The confirmation about the pirate-themed DLC from Gearbox comes close to the launch of fifth character, Gaige the Mechromancer, which is available as a separate DLC. However, Gaige is available free of cost for gamers who pre-ordered the game.

Gamers can avail this DLC at a sum of $9.99 or even go for the Season Pass, which will be available for 29.99$, which will unlock the upcoming four DLCs as well. Considering Gearbox’ fine performance, it would not be a loss to invest in the Season Pass as well.

Borderlands 2 has been progressing considerably and has registered a growth of more than 200 per cent (234 to be precise) in sales for the first month of launch as compared to its previous version. A data released by the NPD group has revealed that the game has already sold 1.48 million copies in USA in the month of September and with the arrival of the new DLC, it is expected to grow further. But despite all its best efforts it failed to win the coveted first prize with Madden NFL 13 beating it for the top slot by registering a whopping 2.5 million copies.

Borderlands 2 has been garnering a lot of positive reviews and is expected to grow further with the upcoming DLCs. The leak about the DLC has generated a new buzz regarding the game and one could predict it to be an intentional move as well. After all, marketing ploys are getting more imaginative nowadays.… Read the rest

Capcom Bungles up on Resident Evil 6; Offers Free DLC On-disc!

Resident Evil 6 Game Close on the heels of the launch of Resident Evil 6, it has been brought to notice that the game’s disc has ‘free’ DLC, which was earlier unannounced and was not supposed to be part of it either…

If you are avidly playing the new Resident Evil edition and waiting for its latest content, then Capcom has revealed the first on-disk DLC, which would be part of the first update. The game, which was released on October 2, included on-disc DLC about which there was no information whether it would be free or require a payment. Now, Capcom has revealed that the DLC would be free and users can avail it on the first update.

The news spells good for the gamer who gets its hand on some more innovative content related to the game. But on the other hand, it is a disappointing affair for Capcom, which is yet not clear about which contents it plans to release for payment. Over the years, it has raked in much money through the release of its DLC but this time around even as the game is still gathering reviews, the DLC release was unexpected. The company spokesperson has clarified that it has ‘unannounced DLC for RE6 that will be revealed in the coming months’ and that ‘all such content will not be on the disc’. However, they added that ‘there will be one piece of content, that for technical reasons, requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc.’

Now, the DLC offered includes the ‘No Hope’ difficulty mode, which makes the task of combat all the more difficult and the sequence is not for quitters. Relentless and arduous battle is a must in this mode. Also, players can take on a campaign with Ada Wong and a partner without having to tread through the other three campaigns. The game’s original format requires the players to beat the three campaigns to unlock Wong’s campaign. Also, players can gain new costumes for their mercenaries by simply registering on www.residentevil.net and earning points on it.

The company, in line with its tradition, has maintained most of the good stuff for paid DLC with none of the multiplayer modes revealed at this stage. Modes such as Predator, Siege and Survivors would be available as off-disc content and can support up to six players at one time.

Resident Evil 6 is yet to make a mark like the previous versions and is still reeling under the huge expectations from the franchise. While RE5 was termed disappointing, the current edition although high on the gore content, is simply being termed as too less in terms of performance. Capcom has already suffered the fall with the leak of the game a month prior to its official launch. The company’s latest bungling is also a disappointment of sorts, although, it was in a similar situation six months ago while releasing Street Fighter X Tekken game. One hopes that the upcoming DLC would be something to cheer about!… Read the rest

Borderlands 2 Reveal the Mechromancer DLC!

Gearbox recently unveiled the Mechromancer DLC beating its own launch date of October 16 and by the looks of it, the character is bound to be a curious addition. One finds out whether it will last the stretch…

If you are thoroughly enjoying your Borderlands 2 edition and still speculating over whether to buy the new DLC related to the Mechromancer class, then that is not surprising. The DLC, which introduces the fifth character, Gaige, the Mechromancer, into play has been questioned on its efficiency.

Even before its launch, the action skills of the character were found to be similar to the existing Commando with his turret being replaced by the D347-TP a. k. a. Deathtrap. But Gaige can be also called the oddest package supplement to the destructive quartet with designs and details meant to capture both old and new gamers.

If it had not been a slip of tongue from Gearbox designer John Hemingway who termed her as the ‘girlfriend mode’, Gaige had a better chance with many gamers who would have preferred a variety in their game. Well, the pre-order sales of the game would have been hardly affected by that comment. No one take away the fact that Deathtrap is a much more effective addition to the game with increased mobility and better visual skills as compared to Commando’s Turret. Also, the verbal skills of Gaige and her unusual gestures make her an apt addition to the game. Now, Gearbox has also released a set of audio journals, which detail out the story behind Deathtrap and how Gaige developed it as a school science project. Deathtrap also has upgrades which enable eye-mounted lasers, faster healing abilities and a unique feature to cause explosions and indulge in energy attacks. The DLC is a fun addition to the existing game, which is breaking records in terms of sales.

The DLC also reveals three skill trees including ‘Best Friends Forever’, ‘Little Big Trouble’ and ‘Ordered Chaos’, which make up for a more vivid and interesting game play. They are attuned to gamer preferences and offer a better experience in handling the Mechromancer class. Unlike its other gaming adversaries, Gearbox revised the launch date of the DLC and released it a week prior offering a surprise to many of the gamers. They have kept the DLC as exclusive and fans, who are part of the Borderlands 2 pre-order club can avail it for free. Alternatively, you can purchase it for $9.99 on Playstation or obtain it for 800 Microsoft points via Xbox Live. Now, gamers have also been able to discover some hidden details in the downloadable content which hints towards some future expansion pack. Apparently, it is expected to be stitched around the pirate theme with players given quests to find a pirate’s booty. The exact details are yet to be confirmed by the developers but one can expect new additions from them. For now, one can enjoy the antics of the Mechromancer, which can be a good asset for your game play.… Read the rest
