Sony PS5 Launch: What’s with the Design?

Sony today revealed the first look of its upcoming PS5 gaming console at its much-awaited Title launch event. The company has left — wisely, as many would say – several questions unanswered like the pricing and release date. That leaves fans of the gaming consoles jittery because pre orders are on.

Nonetheless, the Sony PS5 console attracted much attention and the buzz on social media is immense. There are a lot of expectations that remain unanswered because of the structure of the launch.

Design of PS5 Gaming Console

The Sony PS5 gaming console will come with a black core bordered by curved white edging and a blue glow. It has a curvaceous look and a snazzy blue glow. However, the jury remains divided on the look of the console. Many users even went on to say it looks more like a “Wi-Fi router”. Some have called it out for the “batyy” look.

It’s futuristic in look can be placed vertically and horizontally. While the futuristic look might help differentiate it from others like the Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo Switch, it doesn’t appeal.

Titles Revealed at the Sony PS5 Launch event

However, with the launch Sony showed off some best-selling third-party games, in-house franchises as well as sequels to most popular titles in its hour-long program. Sequels to the bestselling PS4 releases, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Horizon: Forbidden West remained among the most significant ones among the two dozen games that were announced.

PS5 Game Titles

  • Horizon: Forbidden West
  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Resident Evil 8

  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Square Enix’s Project Athia
  • Returnal
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • SackBoy: A Big Adventure
  • Destruction Allstars

Sony also shared the first glimpse of its new racing game offering, Grand Turismo 7. Moreover, it also revealed Capcom’s zombie horror game Resident Evil 8. However, it isn’t yet clear which of the 25 games will be exclusively available on PS5. Sony is said to be building a launch title’s library which will be offered solely on its next-gen console.

Unlike most other online launch events; Sony streamed a pre-recorded video on Thursday rather than a live event. It was broadcasted at a resolution of 1080p which is significantly lower than the PS5 capabilities.

The program suggested the console will sport a customised hard drive which would enable gamers to radically reduce load times. Furthermore, the upcoming console is also likely to offer improved visuals in comparison to the PS4. Additionally, the PlayStation 5 will come with a charging dock, camera, wireless headphones, and media remote accessories.
