Samsung Note 3, Note 2, S3 and S4 Upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat OS Expected Next Year

With the announcement of Android 4.4 OS release by Google two weeks back, there was a good news that the Google Play Store will be updated too. Samsung device users were excited about the debut of Android 4.4 KitKat OS on their handsets, but alas! According to some reports, Android 4.4 KitKat will come to Samsung devices and phablets only next year.

The Android 4.4 testing for Samsung Galaxy Note III is already in progress and will be done soon. It is speculated that the latest operating system by Google will feature first in Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Note II. There are rumours of an early release of Samsung Galaxy S5 next year, and we believe that KitKat OS will come to Samsung devices only after the S5 release is done. Samsung Galaxy S5 may be the first Samsung smartphone to receive the brand new Android OS update.

What’s more is there are reports around that suggest a work on Google Play Store update is being done by the Korean tech giant. The refresh in the store, mainly planned to better the Android user experience, will be done by Nov 21. With this refresh, there will be many tablet-specific apps that are optimized and visible in the store. This is a reminder to Android App developers to make sure the update is done and the app/game is suitable for usage in tablets. Those apps/games that are not able to meet the standards of Google’s ‘designed for tablets’ criteria, will be mentioned under ‘designed for phone’ on the Play Store.

With the current roll out of Android 4.3 JellyBean OS currently taking place in S3 and S4 handsets, there are many issues faced by Samsung users as far as updation is concerned. Depleted battery performance, unresponsiveness of the handset, unstable Wi-Fi network connection, locking up of the phone are some issues Samsung has to address as soon as possible.
