The Android 4.4 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy S3 has been confirmed in USA. However, we are still not sure when those residing outside the US could begin to receive the updates over air. We also sniffed possibilities that the update for the Galaxy S3 will march in by the end of this month. However, despite the confirmation, we are still not sure about the timing of arrival of the update.
Samsung had officially confirmed the update sometime back, but there have been no specifications on the carriers that will air the updates. Sprint has given an official line stating that the updates for KitKat in Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 are set to be out be out only later this year.
Only days after the US arm of Samsung confirmed the same, Samsung Poland buzzed in saying that it was not possible to update the Samsung Galaxy S3. Reason being the handset will see insufficient storage on the RAM. The Polish S3 uses just 1GB of RAM while the smartphone in USA uses 2GB RAM.
