Samsung Galaxy Note II vs LG Optimus VU 2: The Phablets Meet Head-On

Heard it right? Was that a phablet? Err, no must be tablet! No.. its a phablet! What’s it now? Well, for those who are  unacquainted, don’t worry as this is no tongue twister or typos. We are a part of the smart gizmo market 2012 and there are two top contenders for the best phablet spot. With the launch of the LG  Optimus VU2, Samsung Galaxy Note2 is up for some real stiff competition and that too all too soon. Is it better than the Note 2? Or is it just a close cousin? Let’s check out their features and try to figure the same.

  • The display is the game changer for any smartphone or phablet. And the LG Optimus VU2 display simply wows us. It comes with a 1024 x 768 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio. The screen is 5 inches and fully capacitive touch. As for the Samsung Note 2, the display is 1280 by 720 pixel in terms of resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen here is high definition and of AMOLED variety and 5.5 inches.
  • As far as the processor goes, the LG phablet comes with 1.5 GHz dual core processor with 2 GB ram. The GPU is of adreno 225 variant while Samsung comes with a GPU of the ARM Mali 400 MP  variant.  The RAM is 2 GB here again.
  • Looking to click away some cool pics with your phablet? If you have the Samsung Note the regular camera is 8 MP while the front camera for video calling or video chats is 1.9 MP. The Optimus proffers 8 MP again for the rear camera and its front camera is 1.3 MP.
  • As far as storage is concerned the Note wins hands down with 64 GB capacity. The Optimus Vu2 comes only with 16 GB in this group. The OS for Note 2 is Android Jelly Bean while LG banks on the Ice Cream sandwich Android. Here again, the Note scores heads on.

Phew the comparison list seems to go on and on. Further comparison can only be gauged with us operating both simultaneously. A Note in one hand and the VU2 in the other– We are game. Are you?
