If 2012 was the year of the affordable 7-inch tablet, we’re hoping in 2013, tablets go the way of the smartphone and get bigger too. Just like the 5-inch phablet devices that are taking the world by storm, maybe this is the year when 10-inch tablets also become everyone’s fancy gadget. Today, we’re looking at some of the popular 10-inch tablets already out in the market to see which one’s worth investing in.
Apple iPad 4: The latest iPad, running iOS 6, is powered by Apple’s own A6X processor and 1 GB of RAM. Its 9.7-inch IPS LED display has a resolution of 2048X1536 pixels. The best thing about the iPad 4 is that it offers LTE as well as 3G connectivity. There’s a 5MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front-facing camera on the iPad 4. You can choose models with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage. The iPad 4 starts at $499 for the base model and goes up to $829, so be prepared to shell out a fortune to own one.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1: First off, the Galaxy Note 10.1 runs Android 4.1 – we wish it was Android 4.2 instead. Also, among these three, its screen has the lowest resolution – 1280X800 pixel resolution with just a 147 ppi., but we love its S-pen feature However, in terms of power, this one packs quite a punch with a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. The cameras are pretty comparable though – 5MP in the rear and a 1.9MP front-facing camera. However, its 7000 mAh battery won’t last as long as that of the Google Nexus 10. Connectivity options include 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth, but no LTE. Available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options, the Nexus 10 starts at $499.
Google Nexus 10: After the success of Google Nexus 7, late last year, Google went a step ahead and introduced the 10-inch version of its bestseller. With a resolution of 2560X1600 pixels, you can view images and content comfortably on the Nexus 10. Powered by an ARM A15 processor and 2 GB of RAM, it comes preloaded with Android 4.2 and is as up to date as it can get. The rear camera has a resolution of 5MP which is more than adequate on a tablet, and the front facing camera is 1.9 MP. A 9000 mAh battery keeps the Nexus 10 running for a long time on a single charge. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, and NFC. You can opt for a 16GB model for $399 or pay an extra $100 for the 32GB model.
