The PopCap phenomenon Plants Vs Zombies is going to be seeing not just one new game, but two – Plants Vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time and Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. If you want to know what is new with Plants Vs Zombies, check out the video development diaries. Or you could just read on –
Really, it is about time – pun intended. Fans have been waiting for this sequel since 2009! Looking at the development diary though, it’s a good thing that PopCap Games decided to wait and fully develop the game. While following the old format of tower based defence, the game has many new twists. Most importantly, it is free. Players can complete the whole game without having to pay and only certain extras are behind a payment barrier. New mechanics like “plant food” to super-charge your plants and new plants and zombies should really liven up the gameplay.
Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare
Now this was really unexpected. An Electronic Arts team came up with a prototype and were then sent to PopCap Games to make a third person shooter Plants Vs Zombies game! There are going to be four playable characters – Pea-shooter, Sunflower, Chomper and Cactus. Each will have its own primary attack and special attributes as well. While many of the plants and zombies from the first game will carry over, expect some of the plants and game mechanics, like “plant food”, to carry over from the second Plants Vs Zombies as well.
