Paytm has launched its new Paytm Mini App Store for developers in India. However, the app store aimed at benefiting small businesses and developers in the country is currently available for Android only. Paytm shared the update through its latest blog post on Monday.

For those who aren’t familiar with the concept of mini-apps, these are custom-built mobile websites offering an app-like experience without actually having to download and install apps. Therefore, it enables users to save their mobile data as well as storage space.

Blog quoted company CEO, Vijay Shekhar Sharma saying, “I am proud that we are today launching something that creates an opportunity for every Indian app developer. Paytm Mini App Store empowers our young Indian developers to leverage our reach and payments to build new innovative services.”

He further added that the new Paytm Mini App Store will also offer users the opportunity for a seamless experience without any additional downloads. Additionally, it will also allow users to use their preferred payment options for digital transactions.

Steps To Follow for Paytm Mini App Store Download

Notably, there are no additional applications or software that you need to download for the new Mini App Store. You only need the original Paytm app to access its host of mini apps listed among various categories including Education, News and Content, Live TV, Music and Podcast, Shopping, Food ordering, etc.

  1. Install the Paytm app from Google Play Store
  2. Scroll down to the Discover section
  3. Tap on the ‘Show More’ button at the bottom.
  4. Check out your intended category and access the Mini apps.

Notably, more than 300 app-based service providers including Ola, Rapido, Park+, Decathlon, Domino’s Pizza, Fresh Menu, Netmeds, 1MG and No Broker have already joined the initiative. Furthermore, even in its beta stage, the feature saw more than 12 million visits in September.

Talking of the payments, the new in-app store will allow service transactions using a range of payment methods including the company’s own Paytm wallet, payments bank, net banking, UPI, credit cards and debit cards. However, while Paytm will not be deducting any additional charges for UPI transactions, card payments will be levied a 2% charge.

Company has also said that its new Paytm Mini App Store initiative will also boost local technology ecosystem and contribute to the nation’s larger Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.
