OnePlus is all set to launch its new wireless earbuds, OnePlus Buds on July 21. The launch had been scheduled alongside the unveiling of the new OnePlus Nord smartphone. The new OnePlus earbuds have been in the news for quite some time before they were officially confirmed by the company.
Its wireless earphones, OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 have already been quite popular among buyers in the wireless headphones and earphones space. The company had also released its neckband-style earphones, OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z recently at price of Rs. 1,999. However, it would be the first-ever OnePlus true wireless earphones.
Expected Features and Specs of OnePlus Buds
In a recent blog post, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau wrote about the company’s upcoming wireless earbuds. He shared details about the OnePlus Buds design, battery life and spilled beans over the overall experience we can expect.
He wrote that the OnePlus Buds aim to give you an effortless, burdenless experience with a wide range of smartphones. But, he also noted that the earbuds have been designed in a way that enables deeper optimizations particularly with the OnePlus smartphones.
The new Earbuds to offer an “Ergonomic Design”
Lau wrote that the company’s first-ever wireless earbuds will come in a more ergonomic design. He opined that headphones, in particular the true wireless earbuds, are a very personal thing for many people.
He went on to add, “In fact, we’ve even found that some people who use true wireless earbuds use them more than use their phones. So when designing the OnePlus Buds, we wanted to make them more than comfortable enough for long wear.”
He notes that with above objective in mind, it incorporates a half-in-ear design so the earbuds can feel comfortable all day long. Moreover, the OnePlus earbuds are expected to come in three colour variants including black, white and blue.
7-Hour Battery Life for A 10 Min. Charge
The OnePlus Buds would be coming with the remarkable Warp Charge technology. Users would be able to use the new wireless earbuds from OnePlus for up to 7 hours straight (even with continuous usage) on a single charge of 10 minutes.
Moreover, users can charge the earbuds up to a little more than three times from the charging case. Lau suggests that it sums up to an extended usage of 30 hours before requiring you to plug in again. Additionally, the OnePlus Buds only weigh 4.6 grams and the charging case weighs around 36 grams to keep it light for your pockets and purse.
OnePlus Buds vs. Apple AirPods and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds+
Many tech bloggers and reviewers could not help the remark that the popular smartphone manufacturer was indeed late to the true wireless earphones party. However, it’s incredibly promising battery life could give it an edge over its many rivals.
Most Apple AirPods’ models usually offer only three hours of continuous use for a 15-minute charge. On the other hand, Samsung’s Galaxy Buds+ offers a direct one hour of uninterrupted use from a 3-min charge which still falls short of the OnePlus 7-hour promise.
However, in one of its downsides, the upcoming OnePlue true wireless earbuds will not be offering support for wireless charging. Industry insiders speculate that the decision has been taken to keep the prices lower.
