OnePlus has officially announced to launch its new OnePlus 8 series smartphones on April 14, 2020. The Chinese smartphone manufacturing company announced the launch event on its official Twitter handle on Monday. Not surprisingly, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, it is going to be an online-only launch event, starting at 8:30 pm IST.

What to expect from the upcoming OnePlus 8 Series?

You can expect the launch of both OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro versions on April 14.  ‘Lead with Speed’ is the company’s new tagline for the OnePlus 8 series. It is expected to be linked with the 120Hz display or rumoured faster-charging features. Notably, OnePlus hasn’t offered many details in the official teaser video accompanying the above tweet.

However, several online reports and leaks on the smartphone series have been making the rounds on the Internet. Owing to these online sources, we can expect the following specifications in the OnePlus 8 smartphones –

  • 5G connectivity
  • 120Hz display
  • Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 processor
  • 4300mAh and 4510-mAh Battery
  • 30W wireless charging
  • 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom (Pro only)

2020 is expected to be a year of 5G smartphones. OnePlus 8 smartphones are also expected to offer 5G connectivity. Moreover, according to a German website, the new OnePlus 8 smartphone is likely to be released in three colour variants including black, seafoam green, and an interstellar glow. Furthermore, OnePlus is also speculated to drop its notch in its flagship OnePlus 8 series.

Notably, OnePlus 8 Pro is likely to come with better camera specs including 3x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom, new night portrait mode as well as more cinematic effects. While the OnePlus 8 model is expected to have a 6.55-inch AMOLED 120/90Hz display, the Pro version of the series is likely to have a 6.78-inch, 120Hz QHD+ display.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 processor, OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will sport 4300mAh and 4510-mAh battery respectively. Both the smartphones would further offer 30W wireless charging support and storage variants of 8GB RAM and 128GB, and 12GB of RAM and 256GB.
