India had a surprise visitor today with the Nokia Lumia 900, which is a generation older than the nexgen Windows Phone 8 smartphones that were launched across the globe recently. Where the world is seeing the launch of Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, India will now be able to buy Lumia 900 for Rs. 32,999.
This phone is available in magenta, black, cyan and white colours and it has a 4.3-inch display with WVGA 800×480 pixel resolution. Powered by single-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, it also comes equipped with an 8MP camera with LED flash, 512 MB RAM, 16 GB internal memory and 1830mAh battery.
This launch has surprised Nokia users in India. India is an important market for India. In such a scenario, launching an old technology might not go down very well with Indian buyers. After having announced the new smartphones that will be running on the brand new Windows Phone 8 OS, Lumia 900 might not get any buyers.
Will India be willing to buy an old technology at such a steep price?
