In the midst of all the flurry created by the high end smartphone launches, the budget conscious smartphone users have also managed to find some variety in the affordable category. A couple of interesting new launched that caught our eye in this price bracket are the Nokia Lumia 520 and the Sony Xperia E. But if you are planning to buy a smartphone, which of these would be ideal for you?
Both these phones are priced around Rs 10,000, with the Xperia E being a tad cheaper. In terms of design, we have to say that we prefer the Lumia 520 for its 4-inch screen and colorful casings in comparison with Xperia E’s 3.5-inch display. Even in terms of resolution, the former scores better points for its 480X800 pixel screen with ClearBlack technology against the latter’s 320X480p display.
Sony appears to have cut a lot of corners while making the Xperia E while Nokia appears to be offering quite a steal. The Xperia E is powered by just a 1 GHz processor running on a single core. On the other hand, the Lumia 520 comes with a dual-core 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM.
There’s no comparison between the Xperia E’s 3.2 MP rear camera and the Lumia 520’s 5 MP offering. But in terms of battery, the Xperia E scores a little higher with its 1,530 mAh battery against the Lumia 520’s 1,420 mAh battery.
Even if you have to pay around Rs 500 extra, we’d suggest you experiment a little and go for the Windows Phone 8 based Lumia 520 over the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based Xperia E.
