We have yet another Android media streamer joining the 2020 list, this time from Nokia and Flipkart. Nokia has launched a new Android based media streaming device, Nokia Media streamer in partnership with Flipkart. Flipkart has signed a branding partnership with the smartphone manufacturer last year which also covers the company’s smart TV portfolio.

Talking of its major specifications, Nokia Media Streamer will be coming with a dedicated remote and will require HDMI port to connect with TV sets. Moreover, its listing suggests that it will reportedly run on Android 9 OS. However, NDTV Gadgets360 reported that while the listing names Android 9, it is still likely that the streaming box actually runs specifically on Android TV 9 Pie.
Nonetheless, the streaming box promises amazing streaming experience. It will allow users to fetch online streaming content on their television screen by connecting it to their home Wi-Fi. Moreover, it will offer streaming support for up to full-HD resolution streaming. Additionally, it also offers Dolby Audio support besides a built-in Chromecast as well as the Google Assistant support.
The streaming box offers a storage configuration of 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory. It will be powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and will feature the Mali 450 GPU. It is also expected to offer pre-installed Google Play Movies, YouTube, Zee5 and Netflix. It will also allow users to download and view content from a host of other streaming services too.
Nokia Media Streamer Price and Sales in India
The Nokia Media Streamer device will be made available for sale in India via Flipkart starting August 28, 2020. It has been set at a launch price of Rs. 3,499. Notably, the Android streaming device will be competing with the likes of Mi TV Stick and Amazon Fire TV Stick in the Indian market.
With more or less similar features as its competitors, Nokia Media Streamer will hope to take on the popular TV Sticks from both Xiaomi and Amazon. Priced at Rs. 3,499, pricing comparisons put it somewhere in between the two with the cheaper Mi TV Stick priced at Rs. 2,799 and Amazon Fire TV Stick at Rs. 3,999. However, it does offer the same price as Xiaomi’s Mi Box 4K offering Ultra-HD streaming at Rs. 3499.
