Gaming major Nintendo has said that in the US alone, it has sold more than 4,00,000 of the new Wii U game consoles within the first week of sale. Video game console Wii U was launched on November 18 in the US at a starting price of $300. The Wii U is the first major game console from Nintendo to have launched in the last six years. The new console comes with a new touch-screen controller thanks to which users will be able to play games together, while giving people in the same room a different experience.
Data says that when Nintendo launched the original console six years back, it sold 4,75,000 in the first seven days in stores. The original Wii is still available in stores and Nintendo says that they also sold 3,00,000 of those last week. At the same time, the gaming company sold 2,50,000 handheld Nintendo 3DS units and about 2,75,000 of the Nintendo DS.
