Nikon J3 Vs Nikon S1: The Dramatic Interchangeable Lens Knock Around

Only six months after the launch of the Nikon J2, the camera manufacturer has launched two new models—the Nikon J3 and Nikon S1. These are compact system cameras (CSCs) come with intuitive features and they are available in five colors each. The Nikon J3 and Nikon S1 are interchangeable lens cameras and offer ease of operability.

Nikon J3 Price $600Nikon has said that the successor to Nikon J2, the Nikon J3 has the ‘world’s smallest body’ at 4.0 x 2.4 x 1.1 in. (excluding projections). It also has the ability to shoot at 15fps. Nikon, known for its user-friendly features, also offers the Slow View mode with the J3. This feature allows users to look at the moment in slow motion to be able to record the decisive moment. It also comes with Live Image Control to preview the effects of settings. This Nikon camera will be available in silver, red, white, black, and beige.

Nikon S1 price $500Another addition to the Nikon 1 series is the Nikon S1, which has a new graphic user interface (GUI). This makes the camera easy to operate. With features such as phase-detection AF, LCD monitor and rotating multi-selector, the S1 has easier and more intuitive control. This Nikon camera is available in five colors—black, pink, red, white and khaki.

S1 is the low-prices 1 Series at $500 and the J3 with its simple panorama mode and a wider ISO range compared to the S1 comes at $600. Both these phones will start shipping in February, according to the company. Nikon has also said that they will be adding more lens and accessories to the cameras soon enough.

The J3 comes at $649.99 with the kit lens. It’s an improvement over the $550 J2 with a higher-resolution 14.2-megapixel CX format sensor and Expeed 3A processor. These features are available with Nikon’s high-priced V2 model.

The Nikon S1 is the company’s first in low cost cameras. It’s similar to the J3 in terms of its processing engine, 15 fps and hybrid autofocus. However, it has 10.1 megapixels capacity compared to the 14.2 megapixels on the J3.
