Microsoft hosted its annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday, where Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer spoke about the success of the Windows Phone 8. He said that Windows Phone 8 was four times of other Windows Phone devices compared to the last year this time. He added that the Windows phone had seen 300% year-on-year sales growth. However, he didn’t share any measureable actual sales figures.
He also said that the Windows Phone Store has more than 120,000 apps and is soon going to have 46 of the top 50 apps that people use. This comes as encouraging news for shareholders, especially since Ballmer acknowledged in October that the phone was a small-volume player.
Microsofot CEO also spoke to shareholders about treating the company as a devices and services company henceforth. “This is really a new era for our company,” he said.
