Microsoft to Enhance Android Gaming on Windows 11

Microsoft is planning to improve Android gaming on Windows 11. The company through its blog post announced the rollout of a new preview build of the Android subsystem for the latest Windows OS.

The latest subsystem version 2206.40000.15.0 will come up with some compatibility improvements for Android games. Along with this, the new preview will also include some other quality of life improvements including windowing improvements, networking improvements, reliability fixes, and scrolling improvements.

As of now, the new preview build is available to all Windows Insider channels but only in the market of the United States. The tech giant has not yet disclosed any information regarding the availability of the new preview for regular users.

Apart from this, Microsoft has listed some of the major issues that possibly could cause an issue while running Android apps. Now, users can even give feedback if they face any issues with Windows Subsystem for Android.

Some known issues listed by Microsoft

As per Microsoft’s blog post, if users face any sort of connectivity issues while they run Android apps on VPN, they can anytime go to the Windows subsystem in the Android Settings app and disable Advanced Networking.

However, there are some VPNs that don’t support Advanced Networking.

What improvements have been made in the new preview build?

Microsoft has added a fresh suite of shims to let testers toggle in the Windows subsystem for the Android Settings app. The addition of a new suite of shims is expected to enhance experiences ins several apps.

Moreover, the new build is also adding some gaming features like support for gamepads with enabling arrow keys for sliding and aiming, and compatibility for games with joysticks. The minimum window size of Android apps would be set to 220dp in the default settings in the new build.
