Microsoft has gone on record admitting that the Nokia deal was a debacle and if a Chinese tech blog for Windows Phone is to be believed, then the giant might skip releasing any Lumia 940 variants and bring in a new line branded the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950XL.

Microsoft Might Skip The Lumia 940 Generation, Go Straight To Lumia 950/950XLThe Specs Revealed

If there indeed is a Lumia 950 on the cards, it could come with a 5.2-inch screen coupled with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and 424ppi pixel density. Powering the phone will be a Snapdragon 808 processor with hexagon CPU. Graphics will be taken care of by Adreno 418 GPU handling graphics. With a 3GB of RAM, one can expect a higher speed than all previous Lumia 950 handsets. Reports also suggest that the other features would be similar to what we had expected for the Lumia 940. These include:

  • 32GB of internal-expandable storage
  • 20MP PureView main shutter
  • 5MP secondary shutter with triple LED flash

Bigger And Better

As for the Microsoft Lumia 950XL, we expect a 5.7-inch screen size backed by 1440 x 2560 resolution with a pixel density of 515 ppi. Processing will be jet fast thanks to the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset with octa-core CPU and top-of-the-game graphics are expected due to the Adreno 430 GPU. All other features are similar to the Lumia 950, err the ex-Lumia 940 from Microsoft.
