Marissa Mayer Might Look at Investing in Flickr after iPhone App Update

After revamping the look and feel of Yahoo Mail, Marrisa Mayer has headed to new pastures. To beat the ever growing competition from Facebook, Twiiter, Google and Instagram, Mayer has set her eyes on Flickr for investment.

On Tuesday Flickr unveiled its iPhone App equipped with retro style filters to add extra edge to the photos shared from Facebook and Twitter.

This is the first significant update to come to Flickr since Instagram rose to heights.  Flickr has undergone many changes since Mayer has taken over Yahoo. In her bid to bring back Yahoo back to its foot; Mayer has recruited many people in Flickr.

Similar to Instagram Flickr would let you add you filters to your pictures. Users had been complaining about the lack of functionality of Flickr apps for quite a time.

Jennifer Davies, Flickr’s head of product marketing in Europe, said: “It’s huge for Flickr. There are a couple of things really important for Yahoo and one is focusing on our users’ daily habits, and photography is one of those things.

“Supporting our core products on mobile is an important goal as well. With the launch of this app we hope to optimise the rich functionality of Flickr on desktop on the mobile. It’s been a core focus since Marissa’s been here.”
