Prepare yourselves for a lucrative holiday season. Bring the big tablets home. Undoubtedly, two of the best tablets are Google Nexus 10 2 (yet to be released) and Microsoft Surface Pro 2. We have a round up on the specifications and features of the two.
Design and Display: Google Nexus 10 2 is reported to be lighter and thinner than the previous version. The rear plastic body is perhaps the only difference as compared to the design of iPad Air. Google Nexus 10 impressed everyone with its wonderful display. Nexus 10 2 screen would not disappoint Android fans, with 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution at a pixel density of 299ppi. It will be brilliant for HD video and image viewing, supporting 16 million colour schemes. Microsoft Surface Pro 2 on the other hand is bulkier and feels heavy, not as portable as Nexus 10 2. It is more of a combination of laptop and tablet. Nexus 2 display wins over that of Surface Pro 2, with the latter having 1920 x 1080p resolution and a 10.6-inch screen.
Processor and Performance: Nexus 10 2 will be powered by quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB RAM. As far as battery performance is concerned, it will offer up to 11 hours of usage. Surface Pro 2 includes 1.6GHz Intel dual-core i5 processor. As promised by Microsoft before the release of the tablet, the 75% increase in battery life is noticed. It offers great speed though, with 8GB RAM and i5 processor. Hard to pick a winner here.
Overall Verdict: Windows 8.1 Surface Pro 2 tablet is a worthwhile replacement for a laptop, offering great speed and features, however in comparison with the form factor of a tablet, it ranks behind. Nexus 10 2 on the other hand may be launched any time soon now, and if most of the reports are to be believed, it will give a tough fight to Apple iPad Air.
The Google Nexus 10 2 release date is soon to be out. It is likely to be called LG V510.
