Step 2: Make sure all the personal information, files, data, and settings have been backed up before proceeding further.

Step 3: Power interruption is expected when you start the process. A battery percentage of at least 50% is necessary, though it is suggested that the battery is charged fully before updating the OS.

Step 4: USB debugging should be enabled on your Nexus 4 device. “Settings > Developer Options > USB debugging mode”

Step 5: Make sure all USB drivers that are necessary for your Computer are installed. Proceed further by downloading Android 4.4 KitKat OS ROM file to your PC.

Step 6: Connect Nexus 4 to the PC using a USB cable, and transfer the ROM file to the device. Switch the computer off.

Step 7:  Reboot Nexus 4 into recovery mode and create Android backup of the ROM. Go to “backup restore > backup”.

Step 8: Select “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”, then “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache” and get the Android 4.4 KitKat ROM installed.

Step 9: Reboot the system once the ROM is installed.

That’s it! Android 4.4 KitKat OS firmware is successfully installed on your Nexus 4 smartphone. Realize that though the ROM may state “no bugs”, issues from the firmware are expected since the Android 4.4 KitKat OS is still new to the scene.
