Drones May Be Used For Betterment Of Man-Animal Relation In And Around Forests

Technological advancement may soon make man-animal relationship even better. A recent report states that the scientists working at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun are planning to use drone technology for checking the number of man-animal conflicts in the forest areas.

Drones to track animals

K Ramesh, project in-charge and wildlife scientist of WII told PTI that they are planning to fly drone in the areas located close to the forest so that they can easily track if any animals, especially elephants and tigers intrude the village areas. This will allow the forest officials to drive back the animal once again to the forest without causing any harm to the villagers. Samir Sinha, field director of the Corbett Tiger Reserve also found this technology of great use and said that it will make a huge difference.

Pradeep Vyas, director of the Sundarban Biosphere Reserve also consider the drone technology quite useful as it will help in generating huge information, which is not possible by humans. Drone operation in an around forest area would be started once the Defence Ministry and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) gives permission.

Once the planning comes to existence, drones would first fly across Sathyamangalam forest in Tamil Nadu, Sundarbans, Kaziranga, Jim Corbett National Park and Panna forest. … Read the rest

The Bevel 3D Camera Is An Innovation In The Making

For those who are fascinated by photography, Bevel will be a leap further. This is a simple device which lets you take 3D images conveniently. Bevel can be attached , which comes with a 3D camera, to the 3.5 mm audio jack of his smartphone running on iOS or Android. And wella! A 3D photograph is on its way.

New Apple iPhone 4S

Once you have plugged in the device, take a photograph using the companion app. The laser sight in the device allows it to measure the space between the object or person being scanned and the camera to make a full depth map. And what you get does not just look like a 3D image but comes with definite depth information, which is a necessity for augmented reality applications and 3D modeling.

These photographs can be shared like normal pictures on social networking sites and other channels. This device can be charged using a Micro-usb port.

The Bevel would cost around $ 49 and will come with a calibration card, a charging cable and membership with Cashew. This is basically a crowdfunded project and has already reached $100,000 of funds against the set target of $200,000 with 25 more days to go. There is no doubt that it will reach its goal but the question is, will it be as useful in the future as it seems to be?

The fact that it is a cool concept available at a nominal price is a positive sign for its chance at sustainability.

NASA Researcher Launches Battery Saving Wifi Chip

An all new wifi chip has been developed by Adrian Tang, a researcher at Jet Propulsion Lab at NASA, California and MC Frank Chang, professor at the University of California-Los Angeles. It will supposedly enhance the battery life for all wifi devices. The report has been published in Popular Science.battery charging apps

More Details

The report also reveals that the chip works by reflecting a signal constantly sent out via a personalised router. Therefore, in absence of an own signal, the chip could help devices last much longer than what we see now. Tang has gone on air saying, “Because you are only imprinting on a wi-fi signal, you are not generating it and do not need power.”

Touching New Speeds

The main issue that had been holding back such a chip mechanism was isolation of a fixed signal that was being reflected back since the original signal also underwent constant reflection. As for the speeds on wifi using this chip, the makers claim to have touched
330 megabits/second. In such a case, this could indeed be the next big thing.… Read the rest

Apple Pay: Is it Worth All the Name?

Mobile payments have been around for a long time now. However, they don’t seem to have gained sufficient traction. In such a scenario, it’s a pertinent to question if Apple Pay would be any different.

For those who have used the Apple Pay, they do seem to think so. It’s an easy interface that is the biggest advantage of Apple Pay. One simple has to tap a button and the system is all set to roll. Additionally, one can to add as many debit and credit cards to the passbook to be used further at checkout. Apple iOS9 Release May Coincide With New Handset From The Company

However, once you reach the setup stage, that is when the real confusion sets in. If in US, Google Wallet will take care of this aspect but in other countries as UK, you could be in a bit of trouble as various networks in UK have partnered with credit card companies to work things out.

If however, Apple is able to develop a comprehensive payment system throughout the globe through Apple Pay, as it promised in Cupertino, this problem can be tackled effortlessly and Apple Pay will become a favourite of the tech savvy generation.

Otherwise, the working mechanism is truly amazing. The user only needs to select a card from the Passbook, hold the phone to the payment terminal and verify the fingerprint through the Touch ID. The transactions are done in seconds and the users need not to key in PIN numbers nor are any cards to be swapped.

Using the fingerprint to make payments is indeed a revolutionary idea and if Apple is able to overcome the initial hiccups, Apple Pay can change the way shopping is done for ever.

Legere tweeted, “Is Sprint a melting ice cube? Looks like it to me. Join the cool brand now!” He said in another tweet that “Join T-Mobile now and jump off the Sprint bus before it crashes.”

Legere revealed in June 2014 that the carrier has managed to add more than 17 million customers to its network since the Un-carrier movement started in March 2013. T-Mobile presently has a customer base of nearly 50 million subscribers, while Sprint is slightly ahead with a customer base of 53 million.

International Business Times reports Recon Analytics analyst Roger Entner saying, “T-Mobile was the fourth largest network — It was a distant fourth — and over the last year and a half it is now almost as large as Sprint. I would say next quarter it has a good chance of being larger than Sprint.”

Sprint recently announced the name of its new chief executive officer and president – billionaire entrepreneur Marcelo Claure.
