Motorola has already raked up a huge share in the Indian smartphone market thanks to its tie up for retail with e-commerce giant Flipkart. While the online store has loyally shipped Motorola-E series orders over months now, many other e-commerce stores are getting greedy to partner with the American giants.
Sad news remains that Motorola has officially clarified that it has no interest in retailing the smartphones via any other store expect Flipkart. Motorola India business head Amit Boni today made an official statement confirming this.
When quizzed on why Motorola is so rigid about its tie up with an exclusive seller, Boni said that partnerships are meant to be long-standing and akin to “a strategic bet”. Especially at a time when Flipkart is at the top of its game, Motorola needs to consider no other partner or tie up.
One change that Motorola has taken under its arm is to make its smartphones available offline. Moto fans had been waiting for this news for a long time.
The company opened its service center Moto Care in Bengaluru’s Jayanagar. Besides offering repair services, the store will also stock the latest accessories and gadgets from Motorola. However, the mode of sale still continues to be online here though the products will be up for display.
Boni went on air stating that given the large popularity Motorola enjoys in India, the company has made it a priority to focus on the country to tap more customers. Each of the 150 service centers for Motorola in India will soon see upgrades and improvements.
Plans to launch a Moto E, which is compatible with 4G bandwidth in India, is on the cards too.
