Acer Unveils Windows 8 Iconia Tablets and Aspire Ultrabooks

 

 

 

 

 

 

Acer has unveiled its lineup of Windows 8 gadgets, including two ultrabooks, a tablet/PC hybrid, and a standalone tablet with its own docking cradle.

These Windows 8 products are set to launch in October with the release of Windows 8.

Acer will be releasing the following Windows 8 products:

  • Iconia W5 hybrid laptop/PC
  • Iconia W7 tablet
  • Aspire S7 and Aspire M ultrabooks
  • Aspire V5 notebook
  • Aspire U all in one

With this, Acer will be competing against Samsung and Dell as this laptop will have a detachable screen that doubles as a tablet. The Acer Iconia W5 has a 10.1-inch touch screen that can be removed from the keyboard and used as a tablet. The tablet portion has a swiveling feature also.

The W5 is 3G capable with microHDMI and microSD ports. The company claims it will have a battery life of up to 18 hours and six weeks of standby.

The Iconia W7 will be a standalone tablet that has a cradle with connectivity options such as USB 3.0 . You can also prop it up. This tablet W7 has an 11.6-inch, 1,920-by-1,080 display, 10-point touch, eight hours of battery life, and a 5-megapixel camera.

The Aspire S7 and Aspire M ultrabooks from Acer have an auto light-sensing keyboard. Where Aspire S7 will provide up to 12 hours of battery life, Aspire M has edge-to-edge touch screens and a backlit keyboard options. Both ultrabooks run Intel Core processors, but the Aspire M includes a muscular discrete graphics option from Nvidia.

Aspire V5 is the traditional notebook from Acer with optical drives. It is touch capable and comes in 14- and 15.6-inch models. The device also runs Intel Core chips and includes Nvidia GeForce GT Series graphics.

The Aspire U is a 27 inches all-in-one tablet with Full HD edge-to-edge 1,920-by-1,080 display. It can be tilted from 30-80 degrees with one hand. Aspire U supports 10 points of multi touch and the webcam supports hand gestures. The Aspire U includes a Blu-ray drive, multi-in-one card reader, TV tuner and HDMI-in and out. It has a third-generation Intel Core processor.
