iPhone 5, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy S III Under the Legal Scanner

The legal war between Samsung Electronics and Apple Inc doesn’t seem to halt. US judge Paul Grewal in San Jose, California gave a heads up to Samsung Electronics’ claims that the latest iPhone5 has infringed patents of the Korean manufacturer. Grewal also supported Apple’s allegations against Samsung that OS of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy S III  are a breach of Apple’s patents.

Apple and Samsung’s representatives stayed tight-lipped about the US Judge’s move. The last legal battle between Samsung and Apple resulted in $1.05 billion jury verdict against Samsung on August 24. In February Apple charged Samsung products such as smartphones and Galaxy Nexus of violating eight of its patents

Samsung denied Apple’s charge and in turn brought iPhone and iPad under fire. In this regard, US District Judge Lucy Koh   banned the sales of Nexus in June. In October the ban was lifted from Nexus.

It was on September 21 when iPhone 5 got released, Samsung charged it for infringing its patents. Similarly Apple made a move against Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Samsung Galaxy S III and the Jelly Bean operating system in connection with the Galaxy Nexus.

In his ruling on Thursday, Grewal said Samsung acted with “reasonable diligence” in asking the court to allow it to add the iPhone 5 to the case. The case is Apple Inc v Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd, et al, US District Court, Northern District of California, 12-cv-00630.
