As border tensions between India and China escalate, the Indian government has banned 59 Chinese apps. As the Indian government bans 59 apps, the list includes some big names such as TikTok and UC Browser. Talking about the apps, an ANI report said, “which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.”
The IT Ministry has said that they have received several complaints through different sources that suggest misuse of some of these mobile applications. Available on both Android and iOS platforms, these platforms have come under the scanner for “stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data”.
