It is an add-on extension that you will need to get.The Grid View extension helps to adds a button to use a grid layout in Google Meet.This extension adds a button to the top right bar (next to chat & participant list) to enable grid-view in Google Meet. Grid view gives every participant an equal sized video for use in meetings without a primary speaker.
Here’s how to install Google Extension Grid View in 3 steps:
- Install the Chrome extension: Google Meet Grid View from the Chrome Web Store. (Remember, you will have to use Google Chrome from a PC, Chromebook or Mac)
- Once the extension is installed, anytime you are in a Google Meet a new button will show up at the top right corner of your web browser.
- Click on this button to enable the grid view and customise how you’d like your layout to function. This includes only showing users with video in the grid, highlighting those currently speaking and including yourself in the grid.
By default, Meet allows you to see at most 4 people at the same time during a video conference. You can do this by selecting the tiled view layout.
Please note that in case there are large number of participants inside your Google Meet call, it may cause the meeting connection to be unstable if your internet connection is slow or if you are using an old computer.
