Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 devices are finally here, and the world has good things to say about its flagship smartphone, the Lumia 920. As fab as it sounds, if the price-tag has thrown you off the phone, maybe you want to consider the alternative Lumia 820 – a more reasonably priced Windows Phone 8 based smartphone.
With a 4.3-inch screen, it’s only slightly smaller than the Lumia 920. Its AMOLED ClearBlack display has a resolution of just 800X480 pixels, which may sound a bit on the lower side, but we assure you, it works just fine. Powered by a similar 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM, Windows Phone 8 works quite smoothly even on the Lumia 820. Nokia has put in 8GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD card slot for those who want more space.
The Lumia 820 comes with an 8MP camera featuring Carl Zeiss optics and a dual-LED flash. So if you’re a shutterbug, we know you’ll fall in love with this phone. You can even record videos at 1080 at 30 fps using this camera. The front-facing camera, unfortunately, is just a VGA camera, which is just about enough if all you’re looking to do is make video calls with it. We also love that this phone comes with NFC capability.
The Lumia 820 is fitted with a 1650 mAh battery which should provide up to 14 hours of talktime on 2G and up to 8 hours of talktime on 3G networks. It is available in a variety of funky colors, including black, red, gray, yellow, blue, white and violet. Its price has been set at Rs 27,559 for the Indian market.
