Grand Theft Auto 5 is pretty much a next generation game according to Rockstar, even though the game studio hasn’t confirmed it for the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4.

Rockstar’s associate technical director Phil Hooker has said in interview to IGN that the game is a huge improvement over the last avatar of the game and that it has substantial gameplay improvements over Grand Theft Auto 4 as well. From the outset the scope of the game was to be massive, with a larger open world than ever before – and having an experienced team that had worked on completing GTA 4 helped a lot according to Hooker. The team working on GTA 5 has focused on getting more out of the current consoles, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, since GTA 4 was also available and they claim that the new game is by far superior to the old on every front. So the game will not be available for the next generation consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 when the consoles release this November says producer Leslie Benzies.

The game will be launching on the 17th of September, about a week and a half from today.
