Windows 8 Pro is now rolled out for pre-orders, starting at a price of $69.99 for the DVD pack in the US. Microsoft is slated to officially launch its Windows 8 on October 26th.
Also other PC makers such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Samsung, and Sony, who have their latest Windows 8-based devices lined up for release, have also started taking pre-orders.
Users can order the DVD version of Windows 8 operating system from Amazon, Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, and the Microsoft Store.
Available in several colors, the packaging of the version as per Brandon LeBlanc, spokesman, Microsoft is composed of paper-based materials, excluding the Windows 8 DVD. In his blog post, he said that with this the firm made a reduction of 80 percent in greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel consumption.
However, for those looking for the upgrade to Windows 8 with no boxed product can purchase the Windows 8 upgrade via Windows.com for $39.99. They are advised to rush a bit as the online and boxed upgrade options are available only until Jan. 31st, 2013.
Those who bought a Windows 7 PC since June 2, can get a Windows 8 upgrade for $14.99, starting Oct. 26th. Earlier this week, Microsoft also took out an update to features of Windows 8 prior to its final release.
