After sweeping the internet addicts off their feet with Firefox internet browser, Mozilla is in mood to take a plunge in the smart phone industry. The Firefox mobile OS would come is equipped to challenge Apple and Google OS and would hit the market in July. Mozilla has found support in thirteen wireless providers including Spain’s Telefonica, China Unicom and America Movil.
According to Mozilla the new software is based on open web standards and is capable of operating on devices with much lower hardware requirements than today’s existing crop of smartphones.
“There’s a strategic imperative for the industry to have another OS that really is open and supports choice and competition,” said Mozilla’s senior vice president of products, Jay Sullivan.
The devices from LG, ZTE and Huawei have been showcased at MWC 2013 using Firefox OS.
