Facebook Launches Messaging Service for Non-Members

Rumors are ripe that Facebook does have some intent towards owning instant messenger WhatsApp. Now before Facebook does so it has decided to open up its Facebook messenger service to the non-Facebook users to make its messaging service popular.

This is the first time Facebook has launched any of its services for non-members. Now any non-Facebook user can download its messaging service by just using his/her name and phone number. This new feature was first rolled out for Facebook’s Messenger app for Android. This new ability to log in is expected to come to the Facebook Messenger app on other platforms as well.

Facebook has made this possible as the messeger app is used for chatting and has less to do with public features such as news feed. It is also expected that similar log in ability may be extended to Facebook Camera app.
