Diabetes patients can finally say goodbye to the painful finger pricking morning routines and effectively manage their diabetes painlessly with this new Abott continuous glucose monitoring technology.
Abbott has launched its Abott FreeStyle Libre system in India for all diabetes patients. If you are a diabetes/sugar patient or any of your family members are; then you are already aware of the daily finger pricking routine most of them have to follow to keep a regular check on their blood’s glucose levels.
Notably, the Abott FreeStyle Libre device is suitable for patients of all ages including both adults and children (4yrs +) as well as for women with gestational diabetes. The newly launched glucose monitoring technology allows patients to easily check their glucose levels anywhere, anytime they need to.
How Does Abott FreeStyle Libre Work?
A small filament around 5.5mm long is inserted just under the skin of the patient and is held in place with a small adhesive pad. Subsequently, the Abbott FreeStyle Libre sensor uses the filament to measure glucose every minute in the patient’s interstitial fluid.
You can simply scan the sensor with the provided reader for a real-time glucose reading. Additionally, the continuous glucose monitoring system is also designed to provide users with a complete picture of the individuals’ glucose levels without the painful daily testing procedures.
The device also comes handy at the time when most patients are forced to rely on online consultations with their doctors due to the ongoing pandemic. It provides real time insights in to the patient’s glucose levels and facilitates meaningful interventions.
