The much-awaited Amazon Fire smartphone is scheduled to be released soon, so we want to give you some brief details regarding the specifications, price and features of the smartphone.
The smartphone will be having a price tag of USD199.99 for a 32GB version and USD299.99 for the higher 64GB version. Without the contract, the smartphone will cost USD649.99 and USD749.99 respectively. AT&T has an exclusive contract with Amazon and the carrier has already started taking pre-orders. The shipment of the smartphone is scheduled to start on July 25 2014 and will also be commercially available by that time.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has been quoted saying to The New York Times that “We have a long history of getting started and being patient. There are lot of assets you have to bring to bear to be able to offer a phone like this. The huge content ecosystem is one of them. The reputation for customer support is one of them. We have a lot of those pieces in place. It’s our job to keep inventing and to be patient. One thing leads to the next.”
The smartphone will be having a screen size of 4.7 inches with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720 with 315ppi. It would be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz processor, Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. The Fire runs a forked version of Android, Fire OS 3.5.0. Additionally, it will be equipped with a 13MP snapper on the rear and a 2.1MP front camera. The smartphone will have a 2,400mAh battery that will offer 285 hours of standby time, up to 22 hours of talk time, up to 65 hours of audio playback and up to 11 hours of video playback.
In terms of connectivity, it features global LTE, nine LTE bands, four GSM bands and five UMTS. Other options include 802.11ac support, Wi-Fi channel bonding, Bluetooth and NFC.
