As per latest reports, small tablets such as Acer, ASUS, Dell and Lenovo are all gearing up to roll out an 8-inch 1,280 x 800 pixels Android-powered tabs in the third quarter of 2013. This we believe will come as a firm competition for Apple’s yet-to-be-released iPad Mini 2, which is expected to be out in Q4.
Up to now, 9-inch devices have dominated the tab market, which makes for over 60 percent of all tabs shipped in 2012. However, in 2013, the smaller tablets are likely to report for over 60 percent of shipments.
The success of 7.9-inch iPad mini tabs could be the main factor boosting the shift to 8-inch tablets. With a range of smaller tabs all gearing up for the Q3 launch, it seems like we as consumers are going to be in for a spicy treat.
