Archrivals Apple and Samsung will soon have one thing in common – the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 will both be equipped with the same PowerVR graphics processor. According to a recent blog post by Imagination, Samsung will put in the PowerVR SGX544 in the Galaxy S4, along with an Exynos 5 octa-core processor.
While the international version of the Galaxy S3 is fitted with an ARM’s Mali GPU and the U.S. version comes with an Adreno 225 graphics chipset, the PowerVR GPU can support Microsoft DirectX 9.3.
But even though both these competing smartphones will have this similar hardware, Samsung will run the GPU at a faster clock speed while maintaining the triple-core setup as in the iPhone 5. So, is Apple going to get more worked up at Samsung for this?
