The Galaxy S4 Active, the more rough and tough version of Galaxy S4 is aimed at people with active lifestyle. Its sealed IP67 case makes it both waterproof and dust-resistant, and also positions it against Sony Xperia Z and the upcoming Apple iPhone 6.The new addition with the best features of the Galaxy S4 is purposefully designed for outdoor users as stated by JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
The new S4 Active supports a 5-inch 1080p Full HD TFT display with 443 ppi (pixels per inch), a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash that can take photos and video under water, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, an IR blaster, a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards, and a 2600 mAh battery. It also comes with TouchWiz Nature UX interface, WatchOn, the TV controller software and S Travel to offer all types of travel help.
The 8-megapixel camera’s software will don features like “Aqua Mode” for underwater pictures and videos and the new “Glove Touch” technology for interacting with the screen while wearing gloves.
The June 20 event in London is expected to see hands-on demonstrations of the device as confirmed by the company along with other details about branding in the U.S. and Europe.
