Xiaomi users can now access MIUI 7 on the following phones:

Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi Mi 4i, Xiaomi Redmi Note, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Redmi 2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G

The software is currently in beta stage and performance is likely to be shaky. So it’s important to have a back up of all your data before you download the new MIUI 7.

Check out these steps to download and have MIUI 7 installed on your Xiaomi smartphone:

Check your make of smartphone and begin by downloading MIUI 7 built for the smartphone. You should download Recovery ROM since using Flash function could erase all user data or all files stored internally.  Once the Recovery ROM has been downloaded, rename the ROM file you downloaded to update.zip on your computer.

Now, connect the Xiaomi smartphone to your computer using a Micro-USB cable and then copy this ROM file to the root directory of internal storage of the device.

Next, enter the Recovery mode of the device. There are a couple of methods to do so:

Open the Launch Updater application on the device and click on the icon. You find at the top right hand corner. Finally, select Reboot to Recovery option for entering.

You can switch off the device and hold Volume+ button as well as Power at once to enter a Recovery mode. In the Recovery mode, you may use Volume +/- controls to select and then use Power button to confirm.

Once in Recovery mode, select your preferred language before selecting Install update.zip to System One. After this is done, your device will begin to update automatically. Next, choose Reboot to System One and the device should boot to the latest MIUI 7 version.
