BEST Launches Pilot Program of E-Bikes in Mumbai’s Key Bus Stands

People living in Mumbai can now travel conveniently to their destinations. The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) recently launched a pilot program of e-bikes in Mumbai’s key bus stand. People can take advantage of this service at very affordable prices.

The fare for the e-bikes is fixed at RS 20, with RS 3/ km and RS 1.50. minute. BEST claims to be India’s first and finest bus transport operator that offers passengers integrated and last-mile services.

When bus passengers reach the bus stand, they can simply call for e-bikes rather than spending much on cabs. The e-bikes stations are also being set up in residential and commercial areas. Once the service gets operational fully, it will be integrated with the BEST Chalo App. After which, even the BEST bus pass and Super Saver Plan users can also take advantage of e-bikes.

At present, even people living in New Delhi are using e-bike services that are in partnership with third-party vendors like Yulu.

Key benefits of the service

• Every service is provided to the customers while keeping in mind how it is going to be beneficial to them. Similarly, even e-bikes service has some key benefits. And these are:
• Passengers will experience instant and seamless connectivity to and from bus stops, residential areas, commercial areas, etc
• The e-bikes are extremely safe for traveling as the speed of these bikes is limited to 25KM/hour
• The bikes don’t emit noise or air pollution
• People can reach their destinations on or before time with reduced road congestion

Lately, an accelerator program organizer WRI India introduced Numan Applied sciences, a start-up, that will work with BEST for a proper health management system and the implementation of battery prognostics for e-buses.

As of now, BEST has not yet disclosed which bus stops have been earmarked for the e-bike services. Talking about New Delhi, Yulu’s e-bike services can be found under the title Yulu Miracle. And interestingly, there is a fleet of approx. 250 e-bikes that are available at 40 Yulu Zones- pick up and drop points around nine metro stations. These metro stations start from Dilli Haat INA to JLN stadium on the blue and yellow stations.
