Taking forward Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, Indian short-video platform Mitron TV announced Atmanirbhar Apps launch on Google Play. The platform will now help users discover apps made In India catering to different needs and providing necessary services.

Atmanirbhar Apps Launched includes apps from different geographies and categories, including e-governance, agriculture, health, utility, entertainment, gaming, lifestyle, shopping, e-learning, and others.

“The vision is to strengthen homegrown technology on a grand scale by making it easier for users to identify Indian apps for their various needs…Mitron TV wants to urge people to become ‘Vocal for Local’ and to bring the spotlight on the Indian apps from various geographies,” a statement said. Currently, the platform hosts more than 100 apps and plans to bring 500 apps by the end of this year, it read.


The estimated download size of the Atmanirbhar Apps is 12MB, and, as of now, Atmanirbhar Apps launched are only available for download for Android users. It is available on Google Play for free and will allow users to explore and discover over 100 Indian apps made by local developers. The app also includes the option of taking the Atmanirbhar Pledge to support Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Users do not have to register to avail the facilities introduced by Atmanirbah apps launched. Also, the platform puts forth recommendations of all the Indian apps a user can download. It also includes Aarogya Setu, BHIM, JioTV, DigiLocker, Kaagaz Scanner, and IRCTC Rail Connect, amongst many others.

It is being said that the app makers are planning to add as many as 500 apps by the end. However, Atmanirbhar App is not an app store in itself, but, acts as a portal to discover Indian apps designed locally.
