The year is about to end, so Google thought of coming out with its annual Zeitgeist. Google in its blog post revealed the top searches of the year.
The 11 categories which have been searched most throughout the year are overall searches, images, athletes, events, people, feature films, TV shows, performing artists, consumer electronics, airlines, and Google+ hashtags.
Surprisingly athletes top the search list and a number of Apple gizmos and gadgets also made it to the list.
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA), also got a lot of searchs as everybody wanted to know what was the fuss all about.
Of course, there was the all time chartbuster Gangnam Style in the search list too along with One Direction, Honey Boo Boo, and more also topped several of Google’s lists.
“This year’s site is our most global to date, with a total of 838 lists from 55 countries,” Google said. “We’ve also added a number of new features, including an interactive map that shows where and when some of the hottest terms spiked around the world, and a Google Zeitgeist Android app coming out later today (with an iOS version coming soon too).”
