writers guild awards game writingThe Writers Guild Awards 2014, which will be held on February 1, are set to recognize outstanding achievement in writing for video games. The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for these awards to include Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Ubisoft), Batman: Arkham Origins (Warner Bros. Interactive), God of War: Ascension (Sony Computer Entertainment), The Last of Us (Sony Computer Entertainment) and Lost Planet 3 (Capcom). This is the 7th year that this award has been running.

Games that have been nominated were released between December 1, 2012 and November 30, 2013. For their writers to win, they also have to be members of the WGA Videogamer Writers Caucus. At the Writers Guild Awards 2011 and 2013, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and PlayStation Vita game Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation walked away with the prize respectively. This time round as well, their game Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has been nominated.
