Intel’s latest Haswell chip platform has found home in all of Apple’s Mac lines except for the Mac Mini which was last updated in October 2012. According to Belgian retail giant, Computerstore.be this might just change with Apple gearing up to launch the new Haswell Mac Minis in two variations – Core i5 and Core i7. Apart from being faster, the processors are also equipped to use Intel’s Iris graphics. The new Mac Mini is sure to excite those who wish to own a cheap Mac and already have an existing monitor to plug it to.
Apart from the Haswell processor upgrades, the other updates expected in the new Mac Mini include the 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard which offers an Internet speed of over 1GB per second and of course Iris integrated graphics. Also expected are four USB 3.0 ports in addition to HDMI and a ThunderBolt port. What is unclear is whether the new Mac Mini will feature the new Thunderbolt 2 port that is a part of the Mac Pro and Retina MacBook Pro that helps support 4k displays.
