Apple faced a lot of flak from even its most loyal customers when it unveiled the iPhone 5 last year with the same 4-inch screen. Many analysts say that this was one of the main reasons why the iPhone 5 didn’t do as well as its predecessors, helping its archrival Samsung’s Galaxy S3 gain more and more popularity.
However, according to the latest rumors, a Japanese report has stated that Apple will launch the iPhone 5S in 2014, this time with a bigger 4.5-inch screen. This new phone will also come with a polycarbonate casing, which could make the phone thicker but more durable than the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5S will also have dual-LED, but it will be placed one on top of the other to the right of the lens.
This is just the latest in a long list of rumors we’ve been hearing about what Apple has in store for us next. Previously, we had heard about Apple making a 4.8-inch iPhone Math, and another one about an iPhone in the works with a 12 MP camera. But across many of these rumors, there is consistency regarding the processor – many are saying that the iPhone 5S will be powered by the A7 processor. We’ve also heard that the iPhone 5S could come with a price tag of just $330.
If there is any truth in these rumors, we wonder if Apple will manage to impact Samsung Galaxy S4 sales. Samsung is all set to launch its latest flagship smartphone in less than a couple of weeks, and like the Galaxy S3, it is sure to have terrific specs and features. The Galaxy S4 is expected to have a 5-inch display, which is surely larger than the rumored iPhone 5S. Also, given that the iPhone 5S is expected to launch only next year, the Galaxy S4 will have ample time on its hands to make an impact and possibly go on to become the most popular smartphone of 2013.
