Now that the the new Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models have been launched, it’s time to pay attention to the peripherals. It’s recently come to light that users of the phones will have to shell out some extra dollars to access Apple care services. Initially available at a price of $99, users would now have to pay $129 to avail Apple support and Apple Care services for the latest phones.
Why the hike?
Since the new iPhones retain most of the features of the original iPhone 6, one wonders why the prices have been hiked to such an extent. The company has not clarified any reason for the hike in service fee.
Reports in MacRumors suggest that the 3D Touch feature and taptic engine are responsible for the increased charges. The taptic engine feature has been seen on the Apple Watch and it has gained popularity. However, maintenance of the feature of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus could be higher.
The new iPhones have been launched in twelve regions.
