WhatsApp never ceases to amaze us with its amazing features. Earlier this year, it released the much-awaited Dark Mode feature on iOS and Android. Now, it has again come up with a plethora of features to offer smooth call and messaging experience to the users.
Watch out for dark mode for desktop and web, QR codes, disappearing status for KaiOS, improvement in video calls, and animated stickers for WhatsApp in the coming weeks as they are still in the Beta versions on Apple and Google’s application stores.
Here is a brief on all the new features of Whatsapp:
1. Animated Stickers for WhatsApp:
Stickers have a way of making conversations much more fun, engaging, and expressive. It is one of the most popular ways that people use to communicate on social media and messaging apps. This feature, which is in the working for quite some time, is expected to be added to the already existing stickers tab on the application. Apart from being able to send and forward to others, users can choose to view, save, or star the animated sticker packs after downloading them. This feature can already be found on the Facebook messenger app.
How to get them?
Users can download and use animated stickers for WhatsApp through sticker packs. If you do not see them, it means it is not available for you at this moment. However, you would be able to download the entire pack if somebody else sends you an animated sticker.
2. QR Codes:
This feature enables you to save a person’s contact number just by scanning the QR code. Thus, you would not have to manually feed a contact number on your phone.
3. Dark Mode for desktop and web version of WhatsApp:
After successfully releasing the dark mode on the app, Facebook has introduced the dark mode feature on its web version recently. Following suit, the company is extending the feature to the WhatsApp web as well. This feature is already available and being widely loved in its iOS and Android platforms.
4. Enhanced video calls:
Whatsapp has recently increased the video call limit to eight from fourparticipants earlier. Now, it is focusing on improving video calls for individual screens. Just by pressing on the window, a user can press and expand a contact’s screen presence with this new improvement.
5. Disappearing status for KaiOS:
This feature which is already a favorite of users in its iOS and Android platforms will be extended to KaiOS next. KaiOS users shall be able to share stories and updates on the status that will disappear after 24 days. This is similar to the stories feature in the Instagram app.
