As the Google I/O 2014 conference is all set to start, all eyes are there on the Android 5.0, which is reportedly being launched as the “Lollipop” moniker. Android 4.4 KitKat is still being updated to devices and several have still to experience it, but the next version is likely to be released during the Google I/O 2014 developer conference that is scheduled to start on June 25 2014.
The news has been released by Bulgarian tech insider Nixanbal, which has a great past record in proving accurate information about the yet-to-be-announced devices. The tech insider claimed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop will be the next major release by Google.
The name Lollipop is making sense and is in line with Google’s traditional pattern for naming each Android version after sweets, in alphabetical order.
Google named the first version of the operating systems as Android 1.5 Cupcake and 1.6 Doughnut, and it later launched Android 2.0-2.1 Éclair, Android 2.2 Froyo, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Android 3.0 Honeycomb, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean. The last version of the company was called as Android 4.4 KitKat.
