2020 can easily be called the year of COVID-19. The novel virus spread across borders bringing the world to a halt and economies to their knees. Entertainment industry was no exception as it too took a blow. Scheduled shoots, releases and more had to be abruptly called off. As the initial lockdowns were repeatedly extended, the industry also began witnessing suicide attempts by many young artists as they struggled with finances.

To the relief of many employed within the industry, it has steadily begin to resume operations. However, there is also a significant number of projects which had already completed the shooting process before the lockdown was imposed. Many of these teams had been remotely working on their post-production tasks like mixing, dubbing, etc. and have completed the final project.

But, given the high transmission rate and rising cases of COVID-19 in the country, it isn’t yet viable to open theatres. Therefore, filmmakers are releasing their films on the digital platforms instead. Unsurprisingly, this includes not only small films but also the big-budget Bollywood films. Notably, the Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer, Gulabo Sitabo has already been released on Amazon Prime Video.
