After technovating the doorbells, Ring seem set to reinvent security cameras for your modern day smart homes too. Simply named, The Always Home Cam is in fact an autonomous flying drone. The new Amazon Ring security camera can help you keep a security check not only on your front door but throughout your home.
It can fly autonomously throughout your house and can provide you the live view of either of the rooms you want without having to install separate cameras in multiple locations. Moreover, you can also lay out and schedule preset flying paths for the drone cam.
Tech Crunch also quoted Ring Founder-CEO, Jamie Siminoff that the idea behind the new Always Home Cam actually came from user feedback who wished they’d either been home or been able to see when some specific thing happened at a specific place in their house. He shared that many users added that they wanted a camera for particular rooms but only for certain specified times.
Siminoff added, “It’s not practical to have a camera at every angle in every room of the home. What I love about the Always Home Cam is that it really does solve this problem of being one cam for all — it allows you to now see every angle of the home, in every part of the home.”
Ring Home CamDrone promises not to invade your privacy
Interestingly, the new Ring security camera-cum-flying drone cannot be flown manually. Furthermore, its camera lens is physically blocked when it is docked and thus can only record when it’s flying.
The company officials have asserted that both the above features have been designed particularly to ensure and safeguard user privacy. Furthermore, the manufacturers have also shared that the drone will also produce an audible hum sound while patrolling around your home to alert users when it is around and recording.
Notably, Dave Limp, Senior Vice President for Amazon Devices said during his recent interview to The Verge that he would rather be more worried about the camera on a smartphone than the Ring’s Always Home Cam security drone when it comes to privacy.
Ring Always Home Cam Size and Price
Talking of its design specifications, the new Ring security camera drone is ‘5X7X7’ inches in size. The drone has particularly been designed to be smaller in size for the safety of both the residents and household objects. Moreover, the drone comes with plastic border and grills but does away with the exposed rotors often designed on drones meant to be used in open spaces.
Amazon Ring has announced that its new home security camera cum autonomous flying drone, Always Home Cam will be priced at $249. Unsurprisingly, the new Ring drone will also be compatible with all your existing Ring gadgets including the Ring Alarm. You can also use the Ring alarm to trigger Always Home Cam drone to automatically fly a pre-set path and stream the live video live to your smartphone/tablet through the Ring app.
