Has Amazon Fire Phone Managed To Impress Users?

The much-awaited Amazon Fire smartphone is commercially available in the market. It is a close competitor to the HTC One M8 and iPhone 5s. Here’s how it compares against them: 

Phone Price: The smartphone has a price tag of USD199.99 for a 32GB version and USD299.99 for the higher 64GB version. Without a contract, the smartphone costs USD649.99 and USD749.99 respectively. Being a mid-range smartphone, the price is very high, especially for a company that has just made its debut in the smartphone market.

Amazon Fire smartphone has some good specifications and features. However, they are not as high end if we compare them to the HTC One M8 or iPhone 5S. The smartphone has a screen size of 4.7 inches with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720 with 315ppi. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz processor, Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM.

It seems that the company has not given much thought before launching the phone and tried to sell on the basis of its Amazon iOS or Android apps, which are definitely are not worth the price.

The phone runs a forked version of Android, Fire OS 3.5.0. Additionally, it is equipped with a 13MP snapper on the rear and a 2.1MP front camera. The smartphone also has a 2,400mAh battery that offers 285 hours of standby time, up to 22 hours of talk time, up to 65 hours of audio playback and up to 11 hours of video playback.

In terms of connectivity, it features global LTE, nine LTE bands, four GSM bands and five UMTS. Other options include 802.11ac support, Wi-Fi channel bonding, Bluetooth and NFC.
